OUR STORY

Rooted Here.

For generations, our family has built a life around the land in Fillmore. Rancho Escondido is part of that story, a family ranch shaped by agriculture, hard work, and the people who have called it home.

Today, it begins a new chapter as a place for others to gather, celebrate, and create stories of their own.

SIX GENERATIONS IN FILLMORE

A connection to the land that goes back generations.

Our family’s agricultural roots in Fillmore reach back six generations.

Over the years, the Richardson family has grown citrus, managed local ranchers, and even owned Fillmore’s Sanitary Dairy, providing fresh milk throughout the community.

That history eventually brought our family to a piece of land on Goodenough Road that already felt close to home.

Mike Richardson’s mother had grown up on the neighboring ranch, making this particular stretch of Fillmore especially meaningful to the family.

In 1985, the Richardson family purchased what would become Rancho Escondido.

A FAMILY RANCH

1985 » 2002

In 2002, Mike Richardson purchased the home from his parents and moved his family into the ranch house.

For his daughter Chloe, Rancho Escondido became home.

She grew up exploring the property on quads, watching the ranch change with the seasons and seeing firsthand the work her parents put into building and holding onto the place their family loved.

The land evolved alongside them. Lemons were planted in 1990, additional acres of avocados followed, and the ranch continued the agricultural tradition that had connected the Richardson family to Fillmore for generations.

A DREAM TAKES ROOT

From growing up here to imagining what it could become.

For Chloe, bringing people together had always been part of the plan. Her love of events led her to Cal Poly, where she studied Event Planning and Hospitality and began building a career around bringing people together.

And in the back of her mind was an even bigger dream: having a venue of her own.

2023

The ranch becomes a place to celebrate.

In 2023, the ranch was transformed for a family wedding. Seeing the space come together made Chloe's longtime dream of having an event venue feel possible.

What had always been home could now become a place where others could make it their own.

An outdoor gathering with many people seated at tables under large trees decorated with string lights during the evening.

"We want people to see an open space where they can create exactly what they dream of.”

That idea became the foundation for Rancho Escondido.

A NEW CHAPTER

Still a ranch. Still a family place.

Today, Mike Richardson and Chloe Richardson Lozano continue the story of a property that has been part of their family since 1985.

The orchards remain. The agricultural roots remain. And perhaps most importantly, the feeling of being tucked away on a special piece of Fillmore remains.

Opening Rancho Escondido to celebrations isn’t about turning the ranch into something it isn’t. It’s about sharing what has always made it special.

A peaceful setting. A sense of privacy. Room to gather. And the freedom to make the experience your own.
